How much should a bridesmaid spend on a wedding gift

Without a doubt, being invited to be part of someone's bridal party is a special honour – although it also comes with a hefty expense. You may need to buy a dress, contribute to the bachelorette party, the shower and still be expected to bring a wedding gift.

Which brings us to the question: how much should you spend on the bride's wedding gift?

Of course, you want to be there for your friend on her big day and make sure she gets everything she has ever wanted. But when it comes time to purchase her and her soon-to-be-hubby a wedding gift, you're bank account just might be a little dry.

The amount you choose to spend is completely dependent on what you feel comfortable shelling out. The benefit of being a bridesmaid, is that you are in a group so you can always split the costs with the other bridesmaids and buy one big gift.

If the other 'maids want to purchase individual gifts, then go with something sentimental if you're strapped for cash. The bride will 1) be receiving plenty of gifts off her registry from other guests and 2) will already be so appreciative for all the work (and money) you've already put towards her wedding.

You can also always opt for the least expensive item on the registry and add a sentimental touch if you're nervous about it not being enough, but again, no matter what you give she'll appreciate because it came from the heart!
